黒染の袖の氷に春立てありしにもあらぬながめをぞする

sode no kōri ni
haru tachite
arishi ni mo aranu
nagame o zo suru


Upon my black-dyed
Sleeves, the ice,
With the birth of spring…
What was once, is now no longer, and
In my gloomy gaze, the long rains fall on.


Auf meinen schwarzen
Hemdsärmeln heute das Eis,
zum Frühlingsbeginn.
Was einst war, ist nicht mehr, und
in meinem Blick fällt Regen.
