William Blake: The Fly
#1
Gb-England
William Blake

The Fly

Little Fly
Thy summer’s play,
My thoughtless hand
Has brush’d away.

Am not I
A fly like thee?
Or art not thou
A man like me?

For I dance
And drink and sing,
Till some blind hand
Shall brush my wing.

If thought is life
And streng and breath,
And the want
Of thought is death,

Then am I
A happy fly,
If I live,
Or if I die.

William Blake

Die Fliege

Fliegenkind,
– Ein Sommer frei –
Ich schlag dich tot,
Denk nichts dabei.

Bin ich nicht
Ein Tier wie du?
Und kommt dir nicht
Mein Wesen zu?

Auch in mir
Es tanzt und singt,
Bis ein Geschick
Mich niederzwingt.

Man lebt ja nur
Solang man denkt –
Unbewusst
Der Tod andrängt:

So bin ich
Ein Fliegenkind,
Wie ich leb‘ –
Und dann verschwind.
