AVON'S BARD.
#1
Various criticisms on Shakspeare's Muse
Level at th' unevenness in his style.
Does a stupendous mountain grandeur lose
For possessing inequalities ? While

Consid'ring this, the world itself presents,
The vastest elevation not detracts
From rotundity ; supposed defect vents
Often the strength within ; those noble acts

Are not beyond hypercritics, the aim
Would vainly seek to reach a mark it sees ;
Whose is th' imagining? — not thebright fame
So high — ne'er above expecting increase,
The massive genius as the mountain's rise
Uprears proportionably to exalt — surprise.
