COMING and going : still one Norn descends
To Urda's fount with empty urn, while one
Rises again life-laden to the sun,
And the great Tree still nigher heaven tends
Fresher and lovelier, as the new time lends
New energies. O welcome, latest come !
Inheritor and priest when we Ve gone home,
Welcome thou dreadest gift the good God sends.
Dreadest and dearest, lo, the innocent hand
Lying within its mother's, what command
May it yet hold ! Hear the tongue's speechless cry,
May it not utter yet the inspired word
Nations have waited for, the which when heard,
Shall clear, like lightning, the world's future sky !
