Quoi ? toujours l’éternet regret !
toujours l’Alsace et la Lorraine !
Mais la perte est déjà lointaine ;
Un peuple pratique oublierait.
N’avez-vous pas l’instinct secret
Que ce serait la paix certaine,
Si nous abjurions notre haine,
et qu’enfin l’on d’esarmerait ?
Quand un arbre perd une branche,
En meurt-il ? Nos cris de revanche
Gênent l’Europe et lui font peur.
Ce chant de guerre qu’on entonne,
C’est importun, c’est monotone...
