THE NEW YEAR.
Now let there be on earth an end of sin,
And all contention cease throughout the world ;
The glorious reign of HOLINESS begin,
And Satan's empire to the dust be hurled !
Let PEACE, at last, a final victory win !
Let WAR'S red banner be forever furled !
Resolve, Mankind ! to love and bless each other ;
Forget each hateful caste, each jarring creed ;
Behold in every man a friend and brother,
And minister to him as he hath need.
Are ye not children of a common Father?
Then to His will implicitly give heed :
So Crime and Poverty shall disappear,
And perfect bliss shall crown each new-born Year !
Das neue Jahr
Nun lass die Sünde in der Welt zerrinnen
und aller Streit der Welt hört auf sogleich.
Es soll das Reich der Heiligkeit beginnen
und in den Staub geworfen Satans Reich!
Dem Frieden sei die Frucht endgült'gen Sieges
und eingerollt bleib das Panier des Krieges.
Menschheit! Ihr sollt euch lieben und euch segnen
und ohne Hass-Bekenntnis euch begegnen,
dass ihr in jedem Freund und Bruder findet
und dient ihm, wenn ihr seht, er ist in Not.
Seid ihr nicht alle eines Vaters Kinder?
Dann achtet unbedingt auf sein Gebot,
dass Not und Kriminalität verschwinden
und Seligkeit soll sich dem Jahr verbinden.
