This noblest emanation of the mind,
'Tis wonderful tho' actual to think
Has been gaz'd on by the mighty who sink,
The billows on time's ocean, as behind
In estimation does the transient swell ; —
Genius has estimatingly bow'd
Fame through great ages echoing aloud
Her trumpet voice that on its triumphs dwell.
Does it not attract observation when
Contemplating, that he who Persia's might
O'erthrew, victor of India in fight,
Conceived each thought, born in his mind again
Altho' kingdoms have fallen, states been hurl'd
T' oblivion, this remains, the wonder of tho world.
