Mythology's enthusiast, that fair
Immortal effect of high fancy's power,
Th' embodiment of all most great and rare,
Illumining like gems the classic hour,
As sitting in Imagination's bower,
Thought wanders wheresoe'er well pleas'd it may,
I think of one who left a beauteous dower
On earth, before she took her radiant way;
Amid the darkest scenes are view'd below,
Like hope that gleams along the path of woe
Traces of her who bless'd the golden age,
In flow'rs, in ev'ry sunbeam — as the light
Of Heaven-created genius bright ;
In all that glows amid the soul-fraught page.
