Which can portray the scene with colours true
Nought but gloominess there, in tempest tost,
As he, created by the minstrel turn'd
The love of his rapt spirit to behold
This truth in fiction's certitude was told
" His heart's best blood" was pour'd, and when was spurn'd
E'en all but life and all that it could bring
By who woke inanition with his lay,
Anguish, remorse forgot, each poignant sting
The magic pow'r of music to obey,
And all was gain'd aspiring could desire,
A glance unstrung, and broke his wondrous lyre.
