Alexandre fut yvre et si conquist la perse
Anacreon fut yvre et chanta doctement
Quand Caton estoyt yvre il jugeoit sainement
Encor dans le senat Anthoine son vin verse
Tousjours dessous le vin la Raison ne renverse
Homere ne fit vers quil neust premierement
Eschauffé soubs ce dieu son docté entendement
Puis il entonnoyt Troyes de la fortune adverse
Le vin chasse soucy et nous esgalle aus dieux
Il faict le pauvre riche et rajeunist le vieux
Il eschauffe nos coeurs, et gaillards nous faict vivre
Pour estre grand poëte et sainement juger
pour devenir monarcque hardi en tout danger
Bref pour faire un beau faict, il faut estre bien yvre
