Mia ventura et Amor m'avean sí adorno
d'un bello aurato et serico trapunto,
ch'al sommo del mio ben quasi era aggiunto,
pensando meco: A chi fu quest'intorno?
Né mi riede a la mente mai quel giorno
che mi fe' ricco et povero in un punto,
ch'i' non sia d'ira et di dolor compunto,
pien di vergogna et d'amoroso scorno,
che la mia nobil preda non piú stretta
tenni al bisogno, et non fui piú costante
contra lo sforzo sol d'una angioletta;
o, fugendo, ale non giunsi a le piante,
per far almen di quella man vendetta
che de li occhi mi trahe lagrime tante.

So schöne Bordenzier von Gold und Seiden,
daß auf der Zinn ich stand von meinen Freuden,
Dacht ich bei mir, wem solches angehöret.
So oft der Tag mir ins Gedächtnis kehret,
Der Reichtum sollt und Armut gleich bescheiden,
Muß ich erzürnen drob und Schmerz erleiden,
Von Reu und Scham und Liebesschmach verzehret,
Weil meinen edlen Raub ich ließ entfliegen,
Zur Zeit, wo’s galt, mich’s zaghaft ließ verdrießen,
Die Kraft nur eines Engleins zu bekriegen,
Weil ich zur Flucht nicht Flügel gab den Füßen,
Mindest der Hand Vergeltung zuzufügen,
Die mich so viel der Tränen heißt vergießen.
