L'Amante
Gelosia andava a proveder le porte,
Sì trovava le guardie ben intese
Contra ciascuno star a le difese
E per donar e per ricever morte;
E MalaBocca si sforzava forte
In ogne mi' sacreto far palese:
Que' fu 'l nemico che più mi v'afese,
Ma sopra lui ricad[d]or poi le sorte.
Que' non finava né notte né giorno
A suon di corno gridar: "Guarda, guarda!";
E giva per le mura tutto 'ntorno
Dicendo: "Tal è putta e tal si farda,
E la cotal à troppo caldo il forno,
E l'altra follemente altrù' riguarda".

An jedes Tor ist Eifersucht gegangen,
Und fand die Wächter sämtlich auf der Stelle,
Um jeden Angriff abzuwehren schnelle,
Den Tod zu geben oder zu empfangen.
Und Lästermund blies mächtig auf die Wangen,
Daß in die Welt er mein Geheimnis belle,
Der Feind, der meiner größten Drangsal Quelle;
Doch sollt er seine Strafe bald erlangen.
Nicht Tag noch Nacht verstummte sein Geschwätze,
Auch rief er laut: „Hört! hört!“ beim Hörnerklange,
Breitspurig stelzend auf dem Mauerjoche,
Und brüllte: „Diese hurt, und die hat Krätze,
Hitze zuviel hat die im Ofenloche,
Und die blickliebelt, daß sie Narren fange.“
