Spesse fiate vègnonmi a la mente
le oscure qualità ch'Amor mi dona,
e vènnemi pietà, sì che sovente
io dico: «Lasso! avvien elli a persona?»;
ch'Amor m'assale subitanamente,
sì che la vita quasi m'abbandona:
càmpami uno spirto vivo solamente,
e que' riman, perché di voi ragiona.
Poscia mi sforzo, ché mi voglio atare;
e così smorto, d'onne valor vòto,
vegno a vedervi, credendo guerire:
e se io levo li occhi per guardare,
nel cor mi si comincia uno tremoto,
che fa de' polsi l'anima partire.

Neuntes Sonett
Der Liebe muß ich sinnend oftmals denken,
Die ums Gemüt mir dumpfes Dunkel breitet,
Muß fragend selbst in Mitleid mich versenken:
Hat Amor andern auch solch Weh bereitet?
Mein Leben zagt, wenn er mich wild bestreitet,
So jäh pflegt sich sein Haß auf mich zu lenken!
ein Geist nur aus dem Sturm gerettet gleitet
Und bleibt und spricht von Euch, mir Trost zu schenken.
Verhärmt und kraftlos, weil mein Herz so leidet,
Bezwing ich mich, gesunknen Mut zu heben
Und hoff, in Eurer Nähe zu genesen.
Doch kaum, daß sich an Euch mein Auge weidet,
Bebt jähe Schwäche durch mein ganzes Wesen
Und aus den Pulsen will die Seele schweben!
