All that admiring estimates is seen,
The graceful inclination as 'twould tend
Where all attractive excellence has been,
Musing as would a fine preceptor, friend ;

Not style alone that of loveliness speaks,
But as if th' intellect was glancing o'er,
All that in charm-invested beauty breaks,
Chaste genius will in its power adore ;

Oh, thus could the vainly aspiring thought
Desire such fervid inspiration brought,
That would endue with mental puissance bright ;
With radiant airiness of Fancy's pow'r
As compressing immortality's hour
In its charm'd circle of creative light.
