Transcendent Bard ! the proudest lays have fail'd
To tell the wonders of thy mighty mind,
As ages roll with admiration hail'd
Thou boast and honour of the human kind;

For can the diamond-seeker tho' he find
Costliest gems speak of what yet remains,
Or tell the value of those left behind
In secret caves which mystery enchains ?

Within thy matchless works, a depth pro found
By loveliness and fairy meadows bound,
On which the willing footsteps never tire,
Is deck'd with beauties in exhaustless store
Of worth unspoken, which when we explore
We can but silently and wond'ringly admire.
