If you would view a noble scene present
The fire of highest genius, come, direct
Your eye through far-off years to yonder tent,
And as the varied objects intersect

See what the mind would wish but not expect
Brightly to realize— the soul within
Shines in that martial form which now is deck'd
Ev'n now with pow'r's ensigns — danger's kin;

He comes to warn the else unguarded Friend, —
Great Aristides, to the voice attend !
Peril is lurking in the subtlest snare.
Transcendent Hero! tho' thy deathless fame
More grandly shows to radiate thy name
Attractively, 'tis seen in chasten'd splendour here.
